Does MP Mark Pritchard have any idea on the real issues of funding for those diagnosed with gender dysphoria and if he did would he really say that “It is a matter of choice” to have surgery, in 99% of cases it is not a matter of choice, it is more so a life changing moment in life, when life finally starts the way it should of been from birth.

I got in touch with GenesReunited today and asked them for a recommendation of the issues of transgender in their family trees and if they would consider an option for those who have changed gender.
Their response is that you should either:
a) Add your gender as it is on your original birth certificate
or
b) Alternatively add to the notes section on the family tree mentioning that you have under gone gender reassignment.
I personally opted for (b) and added notes, but then the problem arises when you need to add a previous partner and children as you can’t add the same sex partner, hmmm. But as my kids and ex and disowned me and classed me as some abomination, It doesn’t make any difference, but suffice to say that the lost relatives I have found are great

Well-known British writer Jan Morris, a transgendered woman who began her life as a man named James, has married the woman she long ago divorced to change sexes in a civil union.
Elizabeth Tuckniss and James Morris were originally married in 1949, having met in London while taking an Arabic course. Morris had recently returned from serving as an intelligence officer in Palestine and Italy after he graduated from Oxford.
The couple was very happy together and brought five children into the world, although they suffered the heartbreak of losing one daughter after only two months. James gathered accolades as a journalist, breaking the news of Sir Edmund Hillary’s succesful climb of Everest. However, he has always felt “wrongly equipped” in his body although he never felt attracted to men. In 1972, after several years of hormone therapy, he travelled to Morocco and underwent sex change surgery.

Almost all transgender people doubt themselves and can suffer low self esteem and moments of panic — or days of stress or even weeks! It could be your partner or child has told you that they dress in clothes usually attributed to the opposite sex or want to change sex!
The important thing is to remember the ABC of transcontrol
A - Address your needs - Hiding away may seem ok but you need to feel valued and this may mean taking a step towards discussing your fears or meeting with others - either online or at a safe venue.

On Saturday 26th April at Midnight there is a documentary following four teenager who are all experiencing gender identity disorder, including and 18-year-old Kris, who is beginning the gradual transformation.
It sounds quite interesting and is on Discovery H & Health which is channel 252, for those with Sky+ it may be worth recording and may be useful to those of any age young or old that are about to start their transition and their long journey and fight for the right to be the gender of which they should of been at birth.
