Came across this book on Google Books today, it’s quite an interesting read!

I just performed a search on the Health Commission Wales website for “Gender Dysphoria” and “Transgender” suffice to say that the first search came up with nothing at all, which goes to show that the HCW has no interest whatsoever in helping those living in Wales that have been diagnosed with Gender Dysphoria, mind you they don’t even understand what it is anyway are they are quite pig headed in anything that has to do with the subject.

Gender

Gender is expressed in terms of masculinity and femininity. It is largely culturally determined and affects how people perceive themselves and how they expect others to behave.

Gender Identity

Gender identity is the gender to which one feels one belongs. It is the person’s internal perception and experience of their gender. Some people have a gender identity that is neither exactly male nor exactly female.

Gender Role

Gender role is the way that a person lives and interacts with others, based on their gender identity. It is worth noting that, for legal purposes, people can only be male or female.

Gender Identity disorder: Gender Dysphoria

Gender Identity disorders are rare conditions mainly arising from psychological conflicts within individuals between their physically determined gender and their beliefs and perceptions regarding their personal appraisal of their gender.

A number of causes of Gender Identity disorders have been suggested including genetics, environment, parenting, pre-birth hormonal influences, and exposure early in life to inappropriate sexual material. However, the cause usually remains unidentified and none of the above is necessary.

The two main classifications of Gender Identity disorder are to be found in the International Classification of Diseases, 10th revision (ICD 10) and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th edition (DSM-IV).
