Health body ’should be scrapped’

BBC NEWS | Wales | Health body ’should be scrapped’
Health Commission Wales (HCW), the controversial body which controls specialist NHS treatment, should be scrapped, an official report says.

The report, ordered by Health Minister Edwina Hart, found fundamental flaws in HCW’s establishment and said it should be replaced by an independent body.

HCW was inadequately planned and not allocated enough money, it said.

Ms Hart said the new panel would increase patient and public engagement in a difficult decision-making process.

She said: “I am not one of those people who believes that lay people cannot be trusted to be involved in these sorts of decisions.

“I am convinced that substantially-increased engagement by members of the lay public in these profoundly difficult decisions will lead to improved transparency and public confidence in both the processes and its outcomes.”

Last ever visit to see my clinical psychiatrist

I’m off to see my Clinical Psychiatrist on the 9th, no it’s not because I’m going loopy, it’s just a friendly visit to see her to show her how I’ve got on and to thank her for everything she helped me with in the early days of my transition.

I’ve not seen her for ages, so it will be a good opportunity to catch up and to find out if she has any news on the situation that others may be facing with the long fight for funding from the Health Commission Wales (HCW), which will give me the chance to post any updates about the HCW etc to this little blog and to post about them on the GRS Wales website so those that  may be starting on the transition road may find useful and what hurdles they may have to jump to get anywhere with the pig-headed HCW.

Anyway that’s on the 9th May, I’ve not got far to travel it’s only into Liverpool, it’ll be a day out and an excuse to do some shopping ;) ;)

I’ll post any news and updates around the time when I get back, but until then, ciao for now! ;)

Wow only tens days to go!!

I can’t believe that in ten days time it will be a year since I had my gender surgery by Mr Tim Terry, the year has gone so fast and with only one miner niggle and no other problems at all.

Everything is really coming together now the laser treatments are certainly working and I feel so much better in myself, it seems like only a few months ago since I was travelling to Leicester and have my surgery, I just still can’t believe it’s a year, wow.

I must say thank you to everyone who has and who still are supporting me and the work that I am doing trying to get the Health Commission Wales (HCW) to get of their preverbial fat backsides and help those diagnosed with gender dysphoria with some sort of funding for surgery, but at the present it still seems like we are all banging our heads against a brick wall, as there is still no sign of them actually budging on their bizarre ideas of there been no “clinical need” for surgery, but, the fight goes on..

Response to an email I received the other day

The other day I received and email asking if the Health Commission Wales (HCW) have decided to help those living in Wales with funding for Gender Reassignment Surgery yet?

The only answer I can currently give is, I don’t think so!

No information on Gender Dysphoria or Transgender at the HCW

I just performed a search on the Health Commission Wales website for “Gender Dysphoria” and “Transgender” suffice to say that the first search came up with nothing at all, which goes to show that the HCW has no interest whatsoever in helping those living in Wales that have been diagnosed with Gender Dysphoria, mind you they don’t even understand what it is anyway are they are quite pig headed in anything that has to do with the subject.

Surfing the net today for gender dysphoria issues

While surfing the net to looking for site that may have any updates on the Health Commission Wales’ total disregard for those diagnosed with Gender Dysphoria, I came across really useful post on a blog about the Gender Recognition Act, so follow the link for a great description of the act.
