Letters from the HCW

Here’s just a glimpse at some of the letters sent from the Health Commission Wales

Most Recent

As you are aware HCW, in consultation with Local Health Boards and service providers, has developed a clinical policy for access to gender identity services. As part of the development and consultation process, consideration was given to the relative priority that HCW should assign to this treatment compared to other services within the HCW’s commissioning portfolio. In light of this exercise and of the Assembly Goverment’s Service and Financial Framework targets for 2005-06 and 2006-07, HCW had decided that greater priority should be given to investing in the Assembly’s priority areas. These include cardiac services, investing in life saving treatments such as renal dialysis, and investing in addtional capacity to reduce waiting times for specialist services. Any funding requests must be considered in the light of numerous and varied commissioning priorities.

According to our policy the cases will be reviewed upon finalisation of the HCW’s commissioning plan for 2006-07.
